    Numerous everyday products that we consume consist of palm oil including common food items such as ice cream, peanut butter, margarine, chips, and vegan cheese. It is also widely used in skincare and cosmetics production.

    It has been found that the impact of oil palm cultivation on groundwater resources is comparably similar to that of all the palm trees like coconut, kittul etc. The real measurement for the water consumption is the “Water Footprint” which is significantly very low compared to majority of the commercial crops in Sri Lanka.

    FFB represents Fresh Fruit Bunches which is the crop harvested from plantations and transported to the mill within 24 hours (So the bunches are Fresh) for the processing.

    No. The palm oil mill effluent discharged after oil extraction process is treated using new technology (ZLD plant and CPU) and AEN could exceed CEA standards for the discharge of industrial effluent into inland waters. AEN uses this treated water back in the process, reducing the water requirements from external sources. The boiler flue gas is also checked once every three months by ELCS.

    No. Currently AEN supplies crude palm oil and palm kernel oil only to the local markets.

    With the intention of enhancing the education of students, AEN provides food, stationary supplies, and scholarships to multiple schools around the region. This accounts more than Rs.20 Million per year.
